After the devastating flood in Ellicott City and the destructive torrential rains in our communities, it seems to be a not-so-subtle alert that we need to be more attentive and respectful of our natural environment.
What can we do? The answer is simple, educate yourself. Learn about your area and it’s vulnerabilities. A simple solution is to plant more trees to help reduce the risk to property and life and lessen impervious surfaces, and planting trees will further mitigate stormwater runoff.
They are a part of our natural global environment, are used to build the very buildings that we live in, and we even write with, eat food from, sit on, and read from products that are made from them. Because trees are so important, there are many reasons why we should plant more of them.
